This one goes out to all the plant lovers. Sometimes it can be tricky for traveling vegans and vegetarians to eat out. Thanks to an abundance of locally grown fruits and veggies, it’s actually easy in Cabarete. So, in this post, we will give you some of our favorite vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurants in Cabarete.
Villa Taina Hotel – Restaurant Serenade
Open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7:30am–10pm
One of the best things about Restaurant Serenade is that it is literally about 20 steps away from our condos. Maybe better than that is the fact that their talented chefs are always more than happy to tailor any dish to meet your dietary requirements. Listen up because it gets even better. Every Wednesday, they host an all-you-can-eat Mongolian Grill Buffet—and there are veggies galore! The chefs source the best local produce serving over 15 different types of vegetables along with rice, noodles, and a selection of different salads. Just fill your bowl, pick your sauce and watch as your colorful dinner is sizzled up in front of your very eyes. There’s even live music, so you can dance off some of those extra calories you ingested.
Yalla
Open every evening from 6pm–11pm
Usually, #1 on Tripadvisor is a tapas restaurant called Yalla. Who doesn’t love tapas? There are a variety of options for you in this restaurant, and the dishes are exploding with flavor.
Recommendation: You have to try the beer-battered cauliflower bites. They are to die for! And have you ever heard of an “Avocado Boat?” One word—Yum!
Claro Cafe
Open for breakfast and lunch from 8am–2pm, closed Monday
Looking for somewhere off the beaten path for breakfast or brunch? We recommend hitting up this eco-friendly café just a tad east of Blanca Hotel (just past Janet’s Supermarket). Sheltered from the hustle and bustle, sit and eat a fresh breakfast in the peaceful setting of Claro Cafe. You will find yourself surrounded by a beautiful garden full of plants and flowers, and you will also find a range of delicious plants on the menu.
Recommendation:
The vegan scramble is out of this world. It’s made with silken tofu and is fried off with spinach, onions, peppers and served with toast and marmalade. Don’t forget to check out their fresh fruit smoothies and frozen signature coffees, too.
Fresh Fresh Café
Open every day from 8am–9pm
It’s so fresh they named it twice. Firstly, this café serves epic vegan and vegetarian food. Secondly, they sell locally made organic health foods and plant-based skincare products. Thirdly, they even make their own kombucha. You need this kombucha in your life. The menu is creative, and the location is the definition of zen.
Recommendation:
It’s hard to choose one dish to recommend. Plus we predict you will want to visit this place more than once so, try a vibrant hippy bowl and homemade falafel wrap. Might as well try the yucca fries while you are at it.
