School is out and the summer holidays are in full swing for most families across the globe. Especially when traveling with young kids, we like to keep the holidays close to home as long journeys can be a nightmare.
Well, fear no more! Below we’ve outlined our top hacks for traveling with kids so you can leave your worries at home.
Packing
Let’s be honest, you can never start packing too early, especially when you’re not only packing for yourself.
Pre-packing will also save a lot of last-minute rushing and washing before you leave. Start by laying out daily outfits that can be mixed and matched, are lightweight, and easily washable.
When making the final choices, it’s important to remember that here in Cabarete, you will be spending most of your time on the beach. However much you think you need, you can probably cut it in half!
It also helps that we offer an optional laundry service, so you can freshen everything up after your first week or few days! We also provide basic toiletries and towels in all of our condos so you can save on a little baggage space and weight.
The local grocery stores offer pretty much anything else you could need, but if there is something specific, please feel free to ask us first so we can advise you on its availability here.
The Journey
For some, the journey to the Puerto Plata Airport is just a hop, skip, and jump.
For others like those in Europe, flights can last around 9 hours. This is easy for adults to deal with, but when you have youngsters in tow, it can be a whole another story.
By choosing a night flight, all of you can utilize the time and get some shuteye. Although sometimes, we are not fortunate enough to have the choice.
In this case, we recommend setting up the entertainment station. Finally, you can make use of those stretchy net seat pockets and fill them with your little one’s favorite cuddly toy, book, coloring set, and anything else that would keep them entertained.
Lastly, we recommend taking your time when boarding. Flights often offer those with kids early boarding, but the less time you all have to be sat in those seats, the better.
Once You Arrive
That’s the tricky part over and done with!
Once you arrive, it’s smooth sailing from here on out. Our family-friendly condos offer everything you need to keep the family happy with daily housekeeping, air conditioning, TV with cable, wifi, and bottled water for when you’re on the go.
