Pahuana Surf School is located in Playa Encuentro and offers a full menu of lessons, programs, and competitions for children. They are also well known for their super fun Summer and Christmas surf camps.

2) Swimming Lessons In Sosua

Located at Sosua Ocean Village, this one is about 15 minutes outside of Cabarete, but totally worth the short trek. The facility boasts a 25m pool, world-class swim coaching, and an ultra luxurious environment for both parents and kids.

3) Monkeys at Monkey Jungle

Monkey Jungle is a wildlife oasis located a few kilometers up in the mountains smack in the middle of Cabarete and Sosua. Over 35 spider monkeys, several capuchin monkeys, a flock of peacocks, some iguanas, and who knows how many bunnies live in a grotto-enclosed botanical garden bursting with tropical plants, trees, and flowers.

With a knowledgeable guide leading the way, your family will be handed a plate of tropical fruit before entering the enclosure and shortly there after…everyone will have monkeys on their head, an experience both parents and kids can appreciate! 

4) Horseback Riding In The Mountains

Wise Mountain is one of the oldest eco-tourism establishments in the entire country. Located just outside of Cabarete, Wise Mountain is the place to go on horseback riding adventures. The tours take you through the rain forest, river crossings, mountains and canyons of the areas around Cabarete. The guides are full of interesting historical tidbits that are educational for both you and your children.

It is the perfect antidote to high traffic tourist areas, and your kids will think you are so cool because all kids want to ride horses. Bonus: lunch is included, so you will have one less thing to worry about! This adventure is best for children 10 and over as most of the tours are a full day.
